Scotland is a country that is part of the United Kingdom. Occupying the northern third of the island of Great Britain, it shares a border with England to the south and is bounded by the North Sea to the east, the Atlantic Ocean to the north and west, and the North Channel and Irish Sea to the southwest. In addition to the mainland, Scotland includes over 790 islands including the Northern Isles and the Hebrides.

28 Days Later (film)[]

During the Original Outbreak of the Rage Virus, Scotland began to suffer power cuts at the time of the exodus. Presumably, mainland Scotland was eventually overrun by the Infection during the outbreak.

28 Days Later (comic series)[]

Months after Scotland was decimated by the Rage Virus, some cities such as Edinburgh and Glasgow survived and constantly warred with one another over resources; while other towns and cities such as Halkirk and Inverness were overrun by the Infected. Also, at the time of the NATO occupation of London, while most of the Infected in England had died of starvation, there were still many newly-Infected in Scotland who had not yet starved to death as they had been infected more recently. Some months after the outbreak in mainland Britain, the Infection was able to spread from mainland Scotland to the Shetland Islands, and possibly other islands surrounding mainland Scotland.

After escaping from the infected Shetland Islands, Selena, Clint and a blind Derrick escaped onto the shores of Scotland. They had many close run-ins throughout Scotland, with the Infected there that had not yet starved to death, with American Black Ops personnel stationed in Scotland who were attempting to weaponise the Rage Virus, and with the Kingdom of Edinburgh, before eventually leaving Scotland across the English border.

Trivia[]

  • As shown in the 28 Days Later comics, it appears that there were more survivors of the Rage Virus in Scotland than in England. It is also likely that this is the reason that there were so many newly-Infected in Scotland as long as two - six months after most of the Infected in England had starved to death.
